Emotion series

Now this is going to be really a series of drawings with poetry embedded in them. These are going to generally be one shots. Hope you enjoy folks and I will start putting up Elsi’s Tale tomorrow.

Dreams have always been a source of inspiration for me. Many of my stories and novels have started out as a bit of a dream that I remembered. They may start out one thing but they become something else quickly as I write. Below I have a collection of short short fictions and poetry that have the theme of dream.

Dreams of silver

I got a gift
a ring so fine
I put it on
thinking you were mine

As it grew warm
my heart did soar
for you loved me well
as your note did tell

But after I got it
you started to grow cold
like I did something wrong
when I put it on

You say it is nothing
just things you can’t say
for fear of hurting
but are you going away?

I stare at the ring
that enwraps my finger
like you are wrapped around my soul
and wonder if I am just dreaming
dreams of silver

Long night,
quiet nights,
wishing on a star.

Living for a dream,
dreaming of a life,
with a sweet love.

Dreams 2

My dreams are so strong,
I close my eyes and they come,
images of another life,
one of you and I.

When my eyes are open,
the real world crashes down on me,
living without you,
there is nothing I wish to see.

Dreams on the Wind

I sat beneath the tree, watching dreams drift by. Crystalline globes filled with images that never have been but just might be. Watched them float on the unfelt breeze, moving toward those who needed them. Simple desires and wild flights of fancy filled them, each with a destination. No longer held in the boughs of my tree, they leave this place, going places I will never be. I wonder if maybe if I lie down and dream, will I join them in a new world. I wonder if I really want to. I can’t decide so I sit and watch.

Dreaming in grass

The sun is so warm, the grass so green. Lying here I rest my eyes for a little, just letting the world fill me with its wisdom. You told me that I could not do it, could not feel the life around me.

Why did you think that? Was it my red lips or the color on my lids? It doesn’t matter because your were wrong. The tall reeds of the field tickle my skin as I let my mind drift down into the deep, dark earth. Nothing you can say will take from me my connection to the world.

Just the shortest forms of speaking of dreams.

Remember these?

An interlude of poetry

More poetry for my followers. Hope you enjoy

Breath in,
breath out,
find life,
not death.

Look for love,
not hate,
have the will,
to tempt Fate.

The sounds of life,
the flow of our blood,
the air in our lungs,
bringer of the spirit.
We live the words,

we dance the rythmns,
deep inside us all,
the music fills our souls.

Music Man

Touch the keys,
sing the songs,
tug our hearts,
make us cry.

You are the master,
showing us ourselves,
but I have one thought,
have you shown us you?
Or just a shadow of you?

Poetry from past charity collections

As many of you know I from time to time donate poetry to various charity collections. With all the things that happen in this crazy world of ours I find it is one way that I can help. I dont have a lot of money I can donate to charities, I am not famous or able to travel to the places that people need help but I can send a poem or three to collections. Like all people who write poetry they come from a deep place inside that was touched by something. Be it good or bad. So here you go. Just a few poems.

From the Angel’s Cried charity anthology

Beloved little ones

Sweet and innocent
Just starting your lives
Looking forward to Santa
How could it happen

One moment you were there
the next you were gone
taken away from us all
in ways most foul

Look down from above
brush your wings close
leave a kiss on the brow
of your family grieving

Forever you will be known
Forever you will be remembered
Sweet tiny children
Beloved little ones

From the second Angel’s Cried anthology

A Sad Mother’s Day

It came like always
the day that all Mother’s enjoy
but so many can’t this year
all because of one man

Little hand made cards
presents both silly and sweet
will not be givent this year
to those sad mothers

My heart goes out to them
those who will not have that day
who will cry in silence
missing the babies they love so

While we all love our children
let us remember those who lost
who suffer on this day of family
and offer up our love to sustain them

and this one

Six months of sadness

Six months of news
of children being hurt
six months of madness
and what can we do?

Turn on the news
and what do you see
Guns, bombs and storms
tearing apart families

It is hard to see the good
to see the hapiness to be found
when so many little faces
can no longer smile

From the April Rains anthology

Fire in the Sky

Fire in the sky
a town destroyed
was it an accident?
Or something else?

Does it matter really?
With so many hurt in the blast
brave men and women
running in to do a job

Firemen and women
doing a dangerous job
each one with family
who will miss them terribly

Does a cause matter
when so many have died?
we need to remember
those who gave of themselves, willingly

and this one

West Texas

Tiny little town
we did not know existed
till tragedy struck
in a world all ready mad

So many people
lost in a firey hell
doing their job
as they trained themselves

mothers, fathers,
sisters and brothers
daughters and sons
all lost in a moment in time

Mourn them we will
though we knew them not
for they are brave heroes
and should not be forgot

From the Twist of Fate Anthology I have two more

Mad Season

The weather is upon us
thick dark clouds in the sky
storms raging in east and west
sweeping through town and field

All we can do is pray
to which ever god we follow
let it pass us by
let no one be hurt

The sadness fills our hearts
that this one did not pass by
that little ones were victim
to the madness of the season

Yet again

Storms coming through
bringing danger in their wake
One moment you are safe
the next you are not

We stand by helpless
unable to understand
how nature has turned against us
and smashed towns flat

So many in danger
so many lost
what can we do
than offer up our thoughts

Prayers and well wishes
money and clothing
anything we can do
will barely be enough

And finally these two from the United We Stand anthology. I havent done any others in a while but well..with everything happening I just might sit back and make more poems telling the world about the tragedy out there

In memorium

Yet again the horror comes
yet again a child is gone
what has the world come to
that people can do what you did?

Did you plan a statement?
Was it in revenge?
Did you think when you placed it
that you would be killing children?

Sweet innocent souls
sent beyond the reach of man
all because you thought
you had the right to kill and destroy

No matter the reason
no matter the rights
you will burn
in your afterlife

Be you christian
or muslim
or even something else
you were wrong

Violence is not the answer
violence is not the reason
love is what is needed
love is what will heal us

The day after

The morning came
with leaden skies
clouds that would not
give up their tears

It happened so far away
but struck the heart
like you were at the site
watching it unfold

We all sit and wait
for news both good and bad
will they all survive
will the killer be caught

The world is slowly growing darker
with each terror filled moment
but the sun will shine
and the day will go on

Life is for the living
to remember the dead
we much grow closer
and learn to love each other

Poetry by the letters V, W, X, Y and Z

Yeah I missed doing this last week. When the humidity goes up your writer/poet/blogger goes down. I have trouble doing anything when the humidity is through the roof. So I am making up for it this week with five letters. Enjoy!

This first one is almost twenty years old! and yes the name on the copy right was from before I got divorced and remarried.

Strum the strings
play the notes
lift he mind
from the trap within

Sing to the heart
find the soul inside
join the two together
and let vision  rise

Again this next one is from 1998..I really had just taken up writing poems at that time. So they are well…intense

My love gave me wings
and taught me to fly
I took to the sky
In wonder and pride

But I looked back
to see him gone
somewhere beyond
and I crashed to the ground

Where did he go?
My love so true
Did he want to go?
Or was he torn away?

Now I search on the ground
I search from the air
but not a sight I find
Did some creature pull him to it’s lair?

Okay this one is terrible, I admit it. When I decided to work on poetry by the letters I couldn’t think of something for X…well I wrote this, not realizing at the time that I misspelled zygote!

What an odd word you are
your meaning is obscure
to most of the world
but for a special few

How important you are
little xygote
the beginning of life
of all animal life

the question remains
to so many out there
are you little xygote
really a man

another older one

You and me

You and me

We are meant to be

Or so I thought

And I try to hold that thought

You and me

So very special it seemed

We found a missing part in each other

And held on so very tight

But things change

And you are going away from me

Leaving me to wonder

If we will ever be you and me again

This last one is part of my Generations of Love poetry collection. Just a snapshot of a moment in my daughter’s life

It was so hot
the sun beating down
as she dragged us around
from Camels to Polar bears

But how could we say no?
How would we say stop?
Her little face alight
laughter echoing in the air

The joy on her face
matched the wonder on yours
a father long denied
with his baby at the zoo

Poetry is a difficult thing to be read and write. I try to just do brief moments of time in my free verse. Feelings put to a few simple words. Some like to think they are deep but they are just an expression of the emotions I feel at that time. If you enjoyed my poetry you can find my collections all over the web. I am working on another but it may be a while before I put one out. I have just so much time and so many projects to work on. Enjoy.

Back to poetry…

Lets try this again! My computer went plaid while I was working here!

So here we go. I am back to putting up fun poetry since my book seems to not interest people but my poetry is lately.

Spring Rain ©2006

Hammering on the roof
coming down so fast
ponding on the roads
keeping the morning dark

Shouldn’t it be light
easing the winter ground
bringing up the flowers
not drowning out the buds

True Heroes

You came with the call
dove into the fight
flames burning all around
and you continued your duty

Your brave souls surrendered
in an inferno unimaginable
we honor your courage
yet wish it wasn’t so

Your families mourn you
as does a nation proud
of the men and women who do their best
to tame the wildfires mad

A photograph

a flat imagine of a man

who has depth and soul and meaning

who holds my world in his hands

Sometimes the eyes catch mine

hold me for a spell

but most times they are flat

leaving me in hell
